In the prestigious Fields in Trust Best UK Park Awards held at Lords Cricket Ground on Wednesday evening, Pontypool Park was voted Wales’ Best Park, just missing out on the top spot of the UKs Best Park to Rouken Glen Park in East Renfrewshire. The two other runners up were Castle Gardens in Antrim and Preston Park Rockery in Brighton where, incidentally, I cut my teeth as a young Park’s Apprentice many years ago.
Wales had further success with Maesteg Park in Swansea gaining the Best Play Initiative Award on a Fields in Trust Site and Brynmill Park, also in Swansea achieving the Getting Active Award.
